The Chavez Titans are off to their best start since the 2023 season. The Titans currently hold a 3-1 overall record, and are on a two-game win streak after defeating East and Golden Valley in back-to-back weeks.

Their latest win came in the double digits, defeating a Golden Valley team that put up 70 points the week prior, 35-21. The Bulldogs actually scored first in the matchup, with Raymond Valderrama punching in a long touchdown run. However, the Titan’s Nathan Salazar responded with his first touchdown of the night.
After trading possessions a few times, Salazar punched in another touchdown, giving the Titans a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.Golden Valley then tied things up 14-14 from an Isaac Gonzalez touchdown.
Salazar answered the call once more for the Titans, this time with a goal line touchdown to give them a 21-14 lead. Later in the quarter Chavez would extend the lead to 28-14, heading into halftime with a two-touchdown advantage.

The Bulldogs closed the gap early in the third quarter with a passing touchdown from quarterback Aryion Flores to receiver Jeremy Sandez, cutting the lead to 28-21.

However, at this point the game flipped from being consistently offensive to a defensive affair. Both teams seemed to bunker down on the defensive end of the ball and no team scored for nearly 19 minutes of game time.
Salazar would be the one to break through yet again for the Titans however, scoring a rushing touchdown late in the game as insurance to ensure a Chavez victory.
Now, just four games into the season, the Titans have already passed the win total for their last two seasons combined. Their singular loss comes against a currently undefeated Foothill squad that has already beaten several other SSL counterparts.
They are currently set to host Granite Hills, a fellow 3-1 team, tomorrow night. A win against a fairly evenly-footed opponent would give them a commanding 4-1 record heading into fierce SSL play.
Whether the Titans pull it off tomorrow night, Head Coach Christian Sanchez and his staff deserves the praise that comes with transforming a program that sat at rock-bottom just two seasons ago into a team poised for winning.
Delano Sports Media will be covering the game tomorrow night, so stay tuned for more updates!
